YOU Are Not Alone. We Are in This TOGETHER
2020 will be an unforgettable year. Who would have thought that in a matter of months the world had 360 degree change? There is no doubt the COVID-19 pandemic has hit all of us. It is a global crisis impacting everyone, especially small business owners and entrepreneurs. There is not an easy answer how to survive these turbulent times but something we are sure about is this too shall pass.
Here are some actions you can take to cope with this rapidly evolving situation:
Don’t panic, keep calm
This may be difficult when your funds are running out, when you had to make the difficult decision to lay off some or all of your employees because you had to close your business. Taking care of yourself will help you stay calm which can lead to having a healthier mindset to come up with ideas to move forward. This pandemic is a rapidly changing situation and it is very important to remember things will get better and that you are not alone. Don’t worry, if you need to ask for emotional support, it is ok to do so.
You can continue promoting your company through Social Media. Your clients would love to see the amazing services you offer. If you don’t have an Instagram and/or Facebook account, now is a good time to do so. How about posting a DIY video or inviting you clients to join you in a live video where they will learn how to cook one of your best recipes? You can use the hashtags #supportinglocal #ShopLdnOnt . You can also promote other local businesses and they will promote you, nothing like helping each other, don’t you think?
Ask for help
Fortunately, the federal government is providing relief for small business including wage subsidy and access to credit. Remember there are local organizations such as London Economic Development Corporation and the Small Business Centre with tons of resources. You work very hard to run your business and the last thing in your mindshould never be closing your business forever.
Connect with your customers
What can you do to help your customers? How about providing contactless delivery? If you own a restaurant, chances are your customers want to continue enjoying your delicious food. You can provide take-out, contact less delivery and variety of menu ideas. If you own a beauty salon or if you are a hair dresser, how about helping your customer to take care of their hair by engaging them through live videos or offering homemade hair care kits. Ask fellow entrepreneurs how they are engaging with their customers. It is great to see the caring spirit of Londoners during this difficult time.
Remember to imagine a brighter future, it will come sooner than later.
